About You

Hi
Although I’m a wedding photographer, I’ve been in your shoes.

When I got married in 2004, my experience in photography was as a photojournalist.  Although we spent close to $20,000.00 on our wedding,  we do not have photos, or an album, that will take us back to that day, that could compare to the least of the packages that I offer on my website.

To make a long story short, it was all about the money, not about us.  Per Webster this is what being a professional mean:

Engaging in a given activity as a source of livelihood or as a career: a professional writer.
Performed by persons receiving pay: professional football.
Having or showing great skill; expert: a professional repair job.

Like you, I knew nothing about wedding photography. All I knew was that we needed a professional photographer.
Your wedding day is more than a technically correct photograph.

My wife is Jamaican, and we got married in Jamaica, at the Ritz Carlton, 5 Stars!!  The night before our wedding day, the power went out in Spot Valley where my wife mother live, (where she was preparing at) and came back on 10am the day of the wedding.
My wife was 2hrs late because of this, the photography part of our package was for 5hrs.  We got 3hrs of coverage.  Was the photographer wrong, no!  but as a wedding photographer, was he right, NO!!

As a professional, Yes we do have to make money, but a true wedding photographer is a breed apart.  Your wedding day is not just another job, for a true wedding photographer, its an honor bestowed upon them by you.  Documenting a wedding is a great responsibility few couples and photographers understand.

Right now all you know is, that you need a professional photographer to cover your wedding.   It do not matter if you have all the money in the world, or that  you’re counting pennies to make your wedding day dream come true.   What matters is, you hire someone who cares.  And that’s something money can’t but you.

I tell prospective clients to think beyond the wedding day, what pictures do you envision in your home, maybe a 16×20 or 11×14 for the wall, some 8x10s and 5×7 for table top, shelves and counters.  One of my very first memory is of a 5×7 of my mother and father when they got married, and although they aged, that picture never did.  They are gone now, and although my children are too young to remember them, they know where they got they’re good looks from, because of that picture.

Your wedding comprises more than a few pictures, its a special day, a one time deal that you will be investing a lot of time and money into.  The Wedding album/book is the most expensive part of any package.   This book should display the spirit, the emotions and uniqueness of your wedding day.  Your wedding album is not just a treasury, for you, but an heirloom to be passed down through the generations.

I offer very affordable solutions to preserving your wedding day, so that each moment can be revisited again and again.  Your children and grand children will be able to relive that day and revel in the spirit and emotions of your wedding day, as if they themselves were there.

The person you choose to preserve this memories is a very important one, and staying within your budget is a controlling part of that decision.

On my website you will always find recent wedding that I’ve shot, not just a few great looking pictures, but the entire wedding from start to finish, depending on the package size anywhere from 600 to a 1000+ photos.  You choose a photographer not just for his/her price but for they’re style and consistency. This is what I try to show on my website in the wedding section.

All my packages are customizable to fit your budget.  Any question you have, feel free to email me for further info.

Some of my favorite captures

This is what I love about wedding photography, capturing that one moment of pure bliss.

You're all mine

The groom got just a little much cake on the brides make up, and boy did he have to pay.

Here's your cake and eat it too

This picture says a lot to me, a young man looking at what a real man is all about.

Looking into manhood

What better gift can a father give to his little girl, than the wedding of her dreams.

Thank you Daddy

This shot was pure magic, the group shots had just ended, when the bride and groom turned to kiss and the wind lifted her dress.

Just you and me

A moment frozen just before two lives are changed forever.

With this ring

Digital photography is only limited by the photographer’s imagination.

My Favorite Toast is YOU!

There are unlimited pictures in everything we see, as a wedding photographer capturing the main photos is a given, you know the script.  But every wedding is unique, and although a Bride and Groom will most likely not choose photos like these for print, its in a wedding album that they reveal the spirit, the emotions and uniqueness  of that special day.

Thank you for viewing my blog, and as always comments, and suggestions are welcome.

Welcome

Melvin Wilcox

Welcome to my blog.

Thanks for visiting the Allgood Photography blog.  With the start of 2010 my goal for this blog has changed.  This is partly due to my being the worst blogger on the planet, and partly due to my rethinking what I want this blog to be.  I already have a full website to showcase my wedding photography and I have come up with some ideas to make that website even better!  Going forward, this blog will be for me to post anything else that I want to share.  It will be for my other photography projects, personal musings, etc.  Basically, just a place to maybe get a glimpse into me.

If you’re thinking about booking Allgood Photography for your wedding, please look around the blog and also be sure to check out my main website at www.allgood-photography.com. If you have any questions, I’m always happy to answer them. Just drop me an e-mail at mwilcox@allgood-photography.com.

Enjoy the blog!
